For all those that have bought these cheap DVR cards from China (Goldvision HV4000 drivers and IDVR4000 software) and have the techwell chipsets. Do not go to their site and download the newest updates. These newest updates seem to fail by saying that the software is unregistered and in poorly written English. This software does not need to be registered ever. Someone seems to have screwed up the coding so after a while of running the software will crash and Windows will pop up saying it needs to close. I found this out recently. Luckily I saved the original installer when I purchased the card. I have reinstalled this software on an XP, Vista and 7 and it works on all. To a certain extent.

The newest software you will be able to utilize the remote client software and view the camera's but the old software I could never get it to connect. Problem is the newest software crashes consistantly. So if you do not need to remotely view then go with the old software I will be linking later. If you want to use the remote view client then use the new software but be prepared to constantly restart the software twice a day. Make sure to set the cameras to NTFS and not PAL which is default. Other than tweaking and not having remote client functioning properly, this linked old version software for IDVR4000 is solid compared to the newest updates. So use it or buy an expensive non Chinese DVR card if you need all the bells and whistles. To me a working DVR card recording with motion detection is all I need so cheap is fine with me.
